Organised by the shoemakers themselves, the Conference has travelled
to all corners of England, Scotland and now Ireland. Over the
past years the Conference has attracted a wide range of shoemakers,
bespoke and orthopaedic, leisure and fashion, along with a healthy
number of students to the industry.
The weekend usually
consists of a number of skills "master classes" and discussion
groups,
topics in recent years
include hand welting, pattern cutting, thread making, care of
diabetic feet, leather tanning and advertising.
Cost of the Conference
is £20.00 (Students £10.00) plus £13.00 for the Saturday evening
meal.
